Guyton is the smallest of Effingham County's three cities, in the west-central part of the county where State Routes 17 and 119 meet. It started as a Revolutionary War land grant once called Whitesville, and it has the most historic buildings of the county's three towns, with a downtown district listed on the National Register.
Downtown is antique shops and locally owned businesses rather than big-box retail. Around town you'll find Butterducks Winery, the Guyton Rails to Trails path, and Mossy Oak Music Park, and every year after Thanksgiving the fire department lights up thousands of Christmas lights that draw drive-through visitors through December.
Guyton is served by Effingham County Schools, with Guyton Elementary in town and South Effingham High School nearby, though the county updates boundaries as it grows, so confirm the assigned schools for any address. It's more rural than Rincon, with homes on land alongside newer subdivisions on the south side of town, and it sits in commuter range of the Hyundai Metaplant just across the county line. Guyton gives you historic small-town Effingham with land, newer subdivisions, and the Hyundai corridor in reach. If you want to talk through what's available, I'm glad to help.
