ABOUT PORT WENTWORTH
Port Wentworth sits at the north edge of Chatham County, just off I-95 near the Georgia Ports Authority's Garden City Terminal — one of the busiest container ports in the country. The city is growing fast, with newer residential communities, easy highway access, and short commutes to Savannah, Pooler, and the airport.
The residential side is newer construction at accessible prices, ranging from starter homes to traditional neighborhoods with character. It's one of the more affordable footholds in Chatham County, and the port and logistics corridor keep investment coming.

Port Wentworth is more than its downtown
Port Wentworth has a historic downtown with a designated district around it, and that district is a small part of the city rather than a description of the whole of it. The rest runs from older residential blocks out through the Georgia 21 and I-95 corridor to newer planned neighborhoods, with the river, the port and the rail lines shaping where each of those sits.
It's also its own city, with its own planning and zoning and its own tax layer. A parcel just outside the line sits in unincorporated Chatham County and answers to a different set of rules.
Port Wentworth is a working town and the port is part of its character. How present that is day to day varies a good deal from one neighborhood to the next, and it's the kind of thing worth driving before you decide.
