Long Point

About Long Point

Long Point is a 280-acre gated waterfront community on Whitemarsh Island, with views of the Wilmington River, tidal lagoons, and marsh stretching in multiple directions. It's one of the better-known addresses on the islands, and the reputation is earned. Large lots, well-maintained homes, a stable homeowners association, and the kind of setting that Savannah's barrier islands do better than almost anywhere on the East Coast.

The community is immediately adjacent to the Savannah Yacht Club, which adds a layer of amenities and a social infrastructure that most communities its size don't have access to.

The Homes

Long Point has some of the larger lots available on Whitemarsh Island. Homes here range from established traditional builds to newer custom estates at the top of the market. Styles run from traditional brick and stucco to European and Lowcountry designs, mostly on larger lots that are uncommon at this location relative to the city.

Many homes have private docks with direct access to the Wilmington River and the Intracoastal Waterway system beyond. Lagoon and marsh-view lots are available across price points. The combination of lot size, water access, and proximity to both the city and the beach is what makes Long Point consistently desirable.

Long Point is a residential community rather than a resort-style development. The amenities are the natural ones: the waterways, the marshes, the wildlife, and the daily rhythm of island life on a barrier island with real character. The Savannah Yacht Club, adjacent to the community, offers members tennis, pickleball, pools, fine dining, and private watercraft docks.

Whitemarsh Island's commercial infrastructure means everyday needs are covered close to home. Walmart, Publix, restaurants, and services are all within a few miles of the community gate.

The Amenities & Character

Long Point residents develop real social connections over time. Crime rates here are lower than the national average. Boating, fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding are part of daily life for many residents. The Wilmington River connects directly to the broader coastal waterway system, with Tybee Island accessible by water as well as road.

Downtown Savannah is about 10 minutes west. The airport is roughly 20 to 25 minutes.

The Lifestyle

Long Point is served by the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System within the islands attendance zones. Marshpoint Elementary, Coastal Middle School, and Islands High School all serve the community and consistently earn strong reviews from parents. The island school cluster is one of the more stable and well-regarded in Chatham County.
