Coffee Bluff & Rose Dhu
ABOUT COFFEE BLUFF & ROSE DHU
Coffee Bluff sits about fifteen miles south of downtown Savannah, at the end of White Bluff Road where the land runs out into the water. The Coffee Bluff Marina, out where the Little Ogeechee and Vernon Rivers meet, is the heart of it. On a Saturday, half the neighborhood is out on the water.
Rose Dhu is the quieter pocket within Coffee Bluff, with more wooded, private lots. The Rose Dhu Plantation end has larger estates looking out over the marsh toward the Vernon and Forest Rivers. Both share the same appeal: real water access on the southside, at prices that tend to come in under the island communities.
The homes here cover a lot of ground. Midcentury ranches and Colonials, newer Cape Cods, most built in the 1980s and 1990s. You'll find smaller houses that want some updating right alongside solid, move-in-ready ones.
At the top end sit the waterfront and marsh-front properties, several with private docks on the Forest River, and those run well into the higher brackets. That spread, from modest to estate, is a big part of the appeal.
The Homes
The marina is the center of gravity here. Coffee Bluff Marina sells fuel, bait, and tackle, and it doubles as the spot where people gather at sunset. Rose Dhu has its own marina too, so both sides of the neighborhood keep a boat ramp within easy reach. From the water you can run out to Richmond Hill, Bryan County, and the barrier islands of Ossabaw and Wassaw.
On land, Cedar Grove Park has wooded walking trails for an easy morning out. The full Abercorn Street corridor, with Target, Walmart, Publix, and plenty of restaurants, is only a couple of miles up the road, so you get the quiet without being far from the everyday stuff.
The Amenities & Character
Coffee Bluff is for people who want the waterfront life without the island price tag. It's wooded, quiet, and a little out of the way, but the marina keeps it social and the water keeps it active.
Downtown Savannah is about fifteen minutes up White Bluff Road, and the hospitals and shopping on the southside are close. It's an easy place to settle into if your idea of a good day involves a boat and not much of a schedule.
The Lifestyle
Coffee Bluff and Rose Dhu are served by the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, on the feeder of Windsor Forest Elementary, Southwest Middle, and Windsor Forest High. The district adjusts attendance boundaries from time to time, so it's worth confirming the current zone for a specific address with the district.
